FALKLAND STRAWBERRY Rubus geoides
|
A small slightly woody perennial herb. Solitary, bright white six-petalled flowers with a greeny yellow centre. Flowers November to January, the edible fruit, which resembles a raspberry, ripens December to February. Found on East and West Falklands, they are most likely to be in moist and shady areas between rocky outcrops, tussac and white grass heath. Present also on neighbouring Fuegia and Patagonia.
